刘国昌教授于一九三六年毕业于北京大学地质系,是我国自己培养的工程地质学家,是区域工程地质学的创始人。现任我院付院长,兼任中国地质学会工程地质学专业委员会的副理事长。由于他在四十余年的地质工作中,对祖国建设和地质教育事业作出了优异的成绩,多次受到党和人民嘉奖。粉碎“四人帮”后,曾两次率领中国工程地质工作者代表团出席一九七七年在布拉格和一九七八年在马德里召开的国际工程地质学会议。在国内外地质学界和工程地质学界都享有较高的声誉。
Professor Liu Guochang graduated from the Department of Geology of Peking University in 1936 and is an engineering geologist trained by our country. He is the founder of regional engineering geology. He now serves as dean of the institute, and concurrently serves as vice chairman of Engineering Geology Professional Committee of China Geological Society. Due to his outstanding achievements in the motherland’s construction and geo-education during his more than 40 years of geological work, he has won numerous awards by the party and the people. After smashing the “Gang of Four,” he led the delegation of China’s engineering geologists twice to attend the International Engineering Geology Conference held in Madrid in 1977 and Madrid in 1978. At home and abroad geology and engineering geology have enjoyed a high reputation.
