赫哲族是中国人口较少的民族之一,主要分布在黑龙江、松花江和乌苏里江流域,是我国北方唯一以捕鱼为生和使用狗拉雪撬的民族,历史称其为“生女真”“鱼皮部”和“使犬部”。赫哲族最早以狩猎为生,后因居住在北方江河流域渔产比较发达的地方,逐渐演变为以渔猎为主要的生产方式。赫哲族早年远离社会中心,居住在山野的“撮罗子”和“地窨子”里,生产生活物质贫乏,其文化有语言无文字,信仰萨满教。衣服多用鱼、狍、鹿皮制成。
