古老的戏曲能健康地活到今天,是因为它追随时代不断地更新;而戏曲如今的不景气,是因为它的现状呈现着倒“金字塔”态势,即传统戏较多,新编历史戏居中,现代戏较少,而有质量的现代戏更少。大家知道,在社会生活中,生产力是最活跃的因素;而在戏剧艺术中,内容则是最活跃的因素。正因为如此,戏曲创作以现代题材为内容,才有可能与正在前进的现实生活和人们心灵取得心理上的认同;才有可能以足够的张力去描写现实的矛盾运动;才有可能反映人们所普遍关注的生活激流和生活潜流;才有可能表现沸涌于群体意识中的时代精神和具有深远的各种思想导向。因此,紧跟时代的步伐,把笔触更多地转向对当前生活的描绘、并向生活纵深进发,这是时代赋予剧作家的崇高的历史使命,也是戏曲改革的需要。基于此,回顾和研究一下戏曲现代戏走过来的道路从而探讨其审美特征,就显得很有必要了。
