I. INTRODUCTION The short coupling cavity semiconductor laser is a dynamic single-longitudinal mode light source which has great application prospect in long-distance, high-capacity optical fiber communication. In general, a short coupling cavity laser consists of a laser diode (LD) and a short external resonator of shorter length than the optical length of the laser diode. The external reflector can be a mirror, a spherical mirror, a passive waveguide or a Fabry-Perot Los etalon. In order for SCC lasers to have good single-longitudinal mode properties, it is important to select the parameters of the SCC laser appropriately. In this paper, we discuss the effects of outer cavity length and coupling cavity reflectivity on the mode selection. We first pointed out that the surface of the LD adjacent to the endoscope must be stiffened to match the effective reflectance of the external reflector.
