一路从广州美院附中到广州美术学院国画系,再到留校任教,以及后来成为广东画院的专业画家,黄国武一直在广州这片土地上,其间也曾北上到中央美术学院深造。多年的学习和研究让黄国武对水墨在当下的意义有着深刻的理解,他说,“明确自己的角色,尽可能从极端的个人角度去切入社会的文化,深入具体地表达出所感兴趣的、熟知的生活和因为这样的生活所产生的对生命的联想,是这一代水墨画家所不懈探索的方向。”
