Central to the fifth-generation computer program developed in Japan is the processor network called Parallel Inference Machine (PIM). The participants of the third international conference of the fifth generation computer system saw the progress of Japan in PIM. Most people are surprised to find that the fifth generation program is making rapid progress. PIM is an array of processing elements that can make up parallel computer hardware, which makes it possible for a computer to handle many different problems simultaneously. The purpose of Japan is to create an array of 1000 processors with software that will handle concepts and unlimited information, knowledge, and not numerical values.
