《少年维特的烦恼》是歌德在24岁所著,引发了一股强劲的“维特热”。《了不起的盖茨比》已被公认为美国现代小说中最优秀的作品之一,作者菲茨杰拉也被冠之为“桂冠诗人”等。本文从平行研究的角度对照两部作品,挖掘二者的同与异,观照主人公悲剧命运背后的时代特征。
“The Trouble with Juvenile Witter” was written by Goethe at the age of 24, triggering a strong “Viteur”. “The Great Gatsby” has been recognized as one of the finest works in modern American novels. The author Fitzgerald was also named “Laureate Poet”. In this paper, we compare the two works from the perspective of parallel study, excavate the similarities and differences between the two and observe the characteristics of the times behind the tragedy of the hero.
