The Journal of the American Language Institute was founded in 1925, an international peer-reviewed journals, published by the American Association of Language, Quarterly, edited by Gregory Carlson. The journal covers all aspects of linguistics, focusing on the field of theoretical linguistics. In the second half of the 20th century, the journal published many important contributions on structural linguistics in the United States. The publication of the development of linguistics has played a significant role in promoting. One of the best-known articles in the journal is Noam Chomsky’s commentary on Skinner’s “Speech Act.” The journal has a huge impact in linguistics. According to the quotation of 2006 periodicals, the journal ranked the sixth in 47 linguistics journals with an impact factor of 1.79.
