In the Bayan Obo rare earth deposit, nearly 40 kinds of rare earth minerals have been discovered. In order to develop and utilize this rare earth resource, it is very important to study the existing forms and distribution rules of rare earth elements in the deposit. Currently used chemical methods to identify the composition of rare earth minerals, rare earth elements with points and so on. It is still rare to study the valence state of rare earth elements in the minerals of Bayan Obo with modern physics. We used the Mössbauer effect to determine the valence of europium in two rare earth minerals in Bayan Obo.
