通过体育锻炼健身,我国有好传统,有自己的说法和做法。 先秦的圣人提出“天行健,君子自强不息”。荀子说:“养备(注意衣食等)而动时(时常运动),则天不能病。”明末教育家更明确说出“养身莫善于习动,一身动则一身强”。这些说法与西方先哲所称“生命在于运动”是一个道理。 我国自古相传下来的门派繁多的武术,为历代文人武士、平民百姓用以锻炼体魄,卓有实效。踢毽、跳绳、放风筝、舞狮子、赛龙舟等民间游戏,多姿多彩,都有锻炼身体的价值。
