冬至又叫日冬至,日短至和日南至;夏至又叫日夏至、日长至和日北至。它们都同太阳运行有关,因而合称日至。《孟子·离娄》有这样一段话:“天之高也,星辰之远也。苟求其故,千岁之日至,可坐而致也。” 有些人认为南北半球的冬至日是一样的,都是12月22日,他们把这种见解称为“一个冬至论”。我们觉得:一个冬至论是错误的,因它包含着“定义中的矛盾”。
The winter solstice is also known as the Japanese winter solstice, and the days are short to the south of Japan; the summer solstice is also called the summer solstice, the day length to the north and the north to the north.
