祁门是红茶的重要产区,以红茶品质高超,滋味醇厚香气优异著称,深被国内外饮茶者所喜用,在国际市场上具有卓越的的地位。祁门气候土壤条件适宜于茶树的栽培,全年无霜期有223—237天,年雨量在1288—2252公厘,年平均温度17.9℃左右,有效温度总量在5000度以上。土壤母质多属千枚岩和页岩,以厌化红黄壤为多数,呈微酸性反应;当地人民有长期栽培茶树的丰富经验祁门茶树栽培地大部在山谷地,土壤肥沃深厚,土壤冲刷较轻,因而茶树生长良好,树势高大,叶片肥硕,如此,经人工长期的培育下形成了祁门茶树品种群体的性状特性与优异的茶叶品质。祁门茶树曾经作为一个群体品种被广泛引种到国内外各茶区,根据苏联文献资料的报告,认为祁门茶
