本刊讯(记者罗开礼) 2005年4月8日,兼善中学的校园里彩旗飘飘,整个校园充满了生机和活力。兼善中学以第六届教学艺术节为窗口,全面展示了学校“兼善天下”的办学理念。校长周本坚告诉记者,作为我国传统文化正宗的儒家代表孟子提出了立身出仕的至理名言“穷则独善其身,达则兼善天下”。二千多年来它被历代爱国为民的仁人志士奉为圭臬,成为其人生导航的灯塔。古今先贤,灵犀相通,卢作孚先生七十多年前在兴办实业、开发北碚时慧眼前瞻,鼎力办学育人,他深味孟子箴言善己济世之宏旨,将新办学校取名兼善。“兼善”岂及校名,更是卢先生办学理念之精髓, 育人目标之升华。“完善品学,造福社会”的兼善精神从此诞生。半个多世纪以来, 在“兼善天下”理念的引领和哺育下,一批又一批以肖秧、朱琳、杨益言、蒙进喜、吴恩远为代表的兼善学子,他们品学兼优,以辛勤劳作和无私奉献,为民谋利,为国立功,实践着“兼善天下”的理想。
