The Chinese-American female scholar Zhao Xiaolan was voted as one of the six outstanding women in the United States in 1986. She aroused enthusiastic reactions among all walks of life in the United States, especially the broad ethnic Chinese. She was the only Asian woman among the six prominent women in the nation in 1986.
