“文凭”不仅是今人极为熟悉的名词,也是许多人孜孜以求、为之奋斗的短期目标。它成为现代社会了解人、评判人文化水准和知识结构的重要凭证之一。汉语中专指各级学校和教育机构所颁发的毕业证书之“文凭”一词,也即“文凭”一词现代意义的使用和流行,乃晚清才有之事,它在本质上应属于近代中国的新名词。我国古代也有“文凭”一词,指的是由官方所发给、用作凭证的文书。
