Superoxide dismutase (SOD, Ec.1.15.1.1) is an important biological role of metalloenzyme. In the biological world is very large. In animal red blood cells and other tissues is very rich in content. The body’s oxidation-reduction reaction may produce superoxide anion radicals. Recent studies have revealed that many diseases such as inflammation, tumor, arteriosclerosis, edema, senescence and shock are closely related to reactive oxygen species, of which the relationship with superoxide anion radicals is particularly close. Since superoxide dismutase can specifically scavenge superoxide anion, it is of great importance to the prevention and treatment of diseases caused by reactive oxygen species.
