赤壁市地处鄂东南边陲,交通便捷,资源丰富。近几年来,该市以创建教育兴农示范县(市)为契机,不断加大教育改革力度,加快发展职业教育和成人教育,通过高标准建设成校,高质量培养人才,高起点推广科学技术,有力地促进了教育与经济的紧密结合,为农民增收、农业增效开辟了有效途径。全市农民人平纯收入由1998年的2330元增至2000年的2493元。今年,该市被省政府教育督导室、省教育厅、省农业厅联合表彰为湖北省首批教育兴农示范县(市)。
