在汶川大地震发生32分钟后,中央电视台报道了史无前例的重大灾难;52分钟后,新闻频道推出直播特别节目《关注汶川地震》;在温家宝总理乘机降落成都10余分钟后,《新闻联播》播出了总理在专机上的重要讲话。接着,中央电视台又推出专题报道《抗震救灾众志成城》。新华社、《人民日报》及四川电视台、北京电视台、美联社、英国《金融时报》等一大批中外记者赶赴灾区。记者亲临抗震抢险最前沿,以高效、透明的报道在第一时间架起抢救生命的热线,把惨不忍睹的灾情、抢救生命的紧迫通告全国和世界人民,媒体因此获得高度赞誉。
