2006年新年的第一天,由无锡籍知名学者、北京大学书法研究所所长金开诚教授倡导组建的江南大学书画研究所在江南大学逸夫馆正式揭牌成立。全国政协文史和学习委员会副主任刘济民,全国政协常委金开诚,无锡市委常委、宣传部长王立人,无锡市委常委、统战部长丁卜人,无锡市政协副主席王竹平出席了揭牌仪式。王立人和江南大学校长陈坚共同为江南大学书画研究所揭牌。江南大学书画研究所隶属江南大学艺术系,成立研究所旨在依托江南大学人文艺术学科的优势、书画艺术人才的优势,聚集无锡书画艺术人才,建立一支在中国书画艺术方面具有较高理论水平和创作能力的专家队伍。研究所的活动内容是：一、倡导和推广学术成果,由专家举行学术研究报告会；二、组织举办书画展览,交流创作体会,与北京大学举行两校艺术创作交流展及海内外交流等活动；三、
