Mr. Li Lugong, formerly known as Li Limin, was born in 1917 and died in 1993. He was one of the founders of the Fine Arts Department of Hebei Normal University (now Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts) and later moved to Guangxi Lingchuan County. Mr. Li became famous as a Western painting artist and later turned to seek and create calligraphy and seal cutting because of historical reasons. Because of his contribution to the modern Chinese calligraphy, he is known to the public. He is one of the pioneers of modern Chinese calligraphy. However, his exploration of Western painting was obscured and forgotten. There was very little introduction of his paintings in China, so that the “Exhibition of Mr. Li’s Photography Works” in 1997 shocked the oil painting industry. In this issue, some of the prestigious oil painters and critics of the symposium on “Exhibition of Mr. Li Luo Gong’s Works” were excerpted, and some of the seniors who attended the meeting also died. Now it seems that such information is also very precious.
