For a long time, in Chinese and English translations, people simply translated Chinese dragon as dragon. It is not appropriate either from an intercultural perspective or from a translation perspective. The dragon has always been a symbol of good fortune, strength and imperial power in China and has a very high status in the hearts of the Chinese people. However, in Western culture, the image of dragon appears with negative words such as cruelty, mystery, aggression and domineering. In addition, the two are quite different in appearance, and they are two completely different images. In the context of economic globalization, intercultural communication takes place frequently. The traditional way of translating Chinese dragon into Western dragon will affect China’s international image and make foreigners who do not understand Chinese culture misinterpret Chinese culture. Therefore, the traditional method of translating Chinese dragons should be changed, and the two should be distinguished from each other and translated separately.
