中国世界观察研究所和美国乔治亚理工学院国际战略技术政策研究中心于1992年3月23—25日联合在北京召开了“西北太平洋地区经济发展与安全问题国际研讨会”。与会的有来自美国、加拿大、俄罗斯、日本、韩国、朝鲜、蒙古、香港(地区)和中国的代表及观察员共50余人。中国世界观察所所长童大林和美国乔治亚理工学院国际战略技术政策研究中心主任约翰·恩迪科特主持了会议。会议首先集中讨论了西北太平洋地区的经济发展与合作问题。代表们怀着浓厚的兴趣探讨了美、日经济发展前景及其相互关系,北美自由贸易区的建立及其与西太平洋地区的经济关系,中国的深化经济改革与扩大对外开放,图们江流域的联合开发等问
China Worldwatch Institute and the Georgia Institute of Technology International Strategic Technology Policy Research Center jointly held the “International Symposium on Economic Development and Security in the Northwest Pacific Region” in Beijing on March 23-25, 1992. More than 50 delegates and observers from the United States, Canada, Russia, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Mongolia, Hong Kong (region) and China attended the meeting. Tong Dalin, director of China World Watch, and John Endicott, director of the Center for International Strategic Technology Policy Studies at Georgia Institute of Technology, chaired the meeting. The meeting first focused on the economic development and cooperation in the northwest Pacific. The delegates discussed with great interest the prospects for economic development in the United States and Japan and their mutual relations, the establishment of the North American Free Trade Area and its economic relations with the Western Pacific Region, the deepening of China’s economic reform and opening up to the outside world, the opening of the Tumen River Basin Joint development and other questions
