1992—1993年度联合国教科文组织(UNESCO)科学部的财政预算减少了21％,这给国际地质对比计划(IGCP)的开展造成了严重的威胁。IGCP委员会和IGCP科学委员会与IGCP秘书处于1992年1—2月密切合作避免了IGCP计划经费的锐减。执行中的IGCP计划数量从1991年的59项减少到1992年～1993年的52项。而IGCP项目的资助强度并没有降低(1991年平均资助强度为5850美元,1992年的平均资助强度为6140美元)。下面是1992年批准开始实施的9项新的IGCP项目:
The fiscal budget for UNESCO’s science ministry decreased by 21% in 1992-1993, posing a serious threat to the International Geological Correlation Program (IGCP). The close cooperation between the IGCP Committee and the IGCP Scientific Committee and the IGCP Secretariat from January to February 1992 avoided drastic reductions in IGCP program expenditures. The number of implementing IGCP programs decreased from 59 in 1991 to 52 in 1992 to 1993. However, the funding intensity of the IGCP project did not decrease (the average funding intensity in 1991 was 5850 U.S. dollars, and the average funding intensity in 1992 was 6,140 U.S. dollars). The following are nine new IGCP projects approved for implementation in 1992:
