In 1922, Shen Shidi, a 20-year-old Russian Jewish youth, reached Shanghai empty-handed; 35 years later, when he left Shanghai, he had more than 20,000 photographs of his photographs in Shanghai. This is both his memory of the most beautiful time, but also an expression of Shanghai’s time.
