甘堂位于河南宜陽城北5公里,为洛河的一級支流,流域面积43平方公里,屬黄土丘陵区。60年前是一个森林茂密、水草叢生、棠梨滿山、風景如画的地方。相傳东周召伯布文王巡行南国,视甘堂山明水秀,擇为休养之地。詩經也曾記載:“濱菲甘堂,勿剪勿場,召伯所賞。”看来,在历史上甘堂的景色确实曾經是迷人的。
