二十世纪中国艺术大师林风眠先生有言:“从历史方面观察,一民族文化之发达,一定是以固有文化为基础,吸收他民族的文化,造成新的时代,如此生生不已的。中国绘画过去的历史亦是如此;最明显是佛教输入在绘画上所产生的变化”。佛教输入中国带来了印度——希腊风的犍陀罗艺术,而袄教的艺术,则为中国带来了艺术史上的波斯风。祆教是古代流行于伊朗(波斯)和中亚细亚(粟特)一带的叫做休琐罗亚斯德的宗教,以礼拜“圣火”为主要仪式。南北朝时传入中国,唐代曾建寺于长安,称之为祆教、火教、祆火教或波斯教。
