航运是人类征服自然的结晶,也是社会经济发展的产物。长江航运的历史已相当久远。早在三千年前,万里长江上就出现了独立的运输业。然而在近代的历史中,长江航运却呈现出衰败的景象。全国解放前夕,整个长江干流仅剩下14万吨机动船舶和不到100座码头,装卸仅有7台破烂的机械。新中国成立40年来,长江航运事业出现了崭新的面貌,并取得了巨大的成就。——航运生产力有了很大的提高。仅长江干线的部属企业,1988年完成的货运量即达6270万吨,相当于解放初期的33倍;货运周转量387亿吨公里,是解放初期的35倍。特别是改革开放十年来,长江航运业更是欣欣向荣,在长江水系涌现出运输企业近千家,专业运输船舶达到1058万吨,其中公有制企业拥有船舶726万吨,个体联户的船舶达到了332万吨。——航运条件也有了较大的改善。建国40年来,对长江航道进行了有计划地整治和疏
Shipping is the crystallization of human conquest of nature, but also a product of socio-economic development. The history of the Yangtze River shipping has been quite long. As early as three thousand years ago, an independent transport industry emerged on the Yangtze River. However, in the modern history, the Yangtze River shipping has shown a declining state. On the eve of the liberation of the country, the remaining 140,000 tons of mobile ships and less than 100 wharfs were left in the main stream of the Yangtze River, loading and unloading only 7 dilapidated machinery. In the 40 years since the founding of new China, the shipping industry in the Yangtze River has seen a brand new look and achieved tremendous achievements. - Shipping productivity has greatly improved. The subordinate enterprises on the Yangtze River only completed 62.7 million tons of freight in 1988, equivalent to 33 times that of the initial period of liberation; and the freight transportation volume was 38.7 billion tons of kilometers, 35 times that of the initial period of liberation. In particular, since the reform and opening up ten years ago, the shipping industry in the Yangtze River has been thriving. Nearly 1,000 transportation enterprises have emerged in the Yangtze River water system and 10.58 million tons of specialized transport vessels, of which 7.26 million tons are owned by public-owned enterprises and 3.32 million Ton.
