顾廷龙先生,我国当代图书馆界的泰斗,著名的版本目录学家和书法家,以他的学识渊博、治学严谨、书法精深而闻名于我国的学术界和文化艺术界。由中国书法家协会、上海书法家协会、上海图书馆联合举办的顾廷龙书法展于一九九六年十二月二十日在新落成的上海图书馆新馆揭幕,六百五十平方米的展览大厅内悬挂着顾廷龙先生从一九三六年至一九九六年前后跨度达六十年的书法作品一百五十多件,真、草、隶、篆各种书体各尽风骚,且形式多样;中堂、册页、题跋、碑文、题签、手卷、扇面、横披、对联,参观者络绎不绝,在申城书坛引起轰动,一时间,九十三岁的顾老首次举办书法展览被传为佳话。
