Objective To investigate the effects of traffic police PAHs on DNA oxidative damage in vivo. Methods From June to August in 2007, 41 male field traffic policemen and 34 male suburban control subjects in a certain city were used as research objects to conduct questionnaire survey and the concentration of PAHs in air and the exposure index of urinary 1-hydroxypyrene (1-OHP ) And DNA oxidative damage markers in the urine of 8-hydroxy-2’-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) detection by single factor and multiple regression analysis of PAHs inside and outside the exposure level of 8-OHdG. Results The concentrations of fine particulate matter (PM2.5), benzo (a) pyrene [B (a) P] and PAHs in air were 0.096mg / m3, 3.20ng / m3 and 38.32ng / m3 respectively The urinary 1-OHP concentrations of traffic police group and suburban resident group were (0.50 ± 0.38) and (0.34 ± 0.28) μmol / mol Cr (P <0.05). Urinary 8-OHdG concentrations were (13.74 ± 6.30) and (11.61 ± 6.02) ng / mg C (rP> 0.05), respectively. Multivariate analysis found that urinary 1-OHP and smoking were the important factors affecting the level of 8-OHdG. There was no influence on urinary 8-OHdG concentrations by investigating factors such as age, alcohol consumption and exercise habits. Conclusion Traffic pollution in Beijing has had a certain health impact on traffic police. Occupational exposure to air and ambient smoking is an important factor that influences the level of DNA oxidative damage in the study population.
