He imitated English romantic poetry, and gradually formed its own romantic style. Egyptian literature occupies a pivotal position in Arabic literature. Shukkur’s poetry is also the vanguard of the Arab romantic poetry. His poetry and romanticism reflect the unique charm of Arabic literature and the positive influence of European and American literature on Arabic literature. The purpose of this article is to look for the trace of the impact of European and American romanticism on Arab poetry from Shukkur’s poems and to study and analyze Shukkur’s poems through examples and argumentation so as to gain a deeper understanding of the new features of modern Arab poetry.
