The 3rd German-China Seminar on Constant Current Sediment Transport Funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the German Science Foundation (DFG) was held on October 9, 2000 at the Federal Military University in Munich, Germany. Nineteen sediment scholars in China attended the conference. The German representatives include 23 scholars from universities and research institutes in Munich, Aachen, Karlsruhe, Koblenz, Hannover, Darmstadt, and Berlin. The famous Canadian sediment expert Ya Lin also attended the meeting and made a special report, and another two scholars from Vienna, Austria, Innsbruck attended the meeting. Organizing Committee Chairman Hydraulics Institute Professor Bechteler, Professor Cai Ruixian, Professor Wang Zhao Yin spoke at the opening ceremony. The Chinese representatives preached 18 papers and Germany read 20 papers. The conference center’s theme is “Long-Term Effects of Unsteady Sediment Transport.” The delegates focused on the role of unsteady riverbed processes, the movement rules of pluton in unsteady flow, the re-naturalization of rivers, the long-term effects of unsteady flow, ecological environment, biology and organic matter on the viscous sediment movement, Fine particles of sediment and suspended matter, intertidal sediment transport process, steep slopes and debris flow, dynamic geomorphology process, mathematical model, reservoir sediment and other topics were warm speech and discussion. During this visit, two large laboratories of the Institute of Hydraulics of the Federal Military Academy of Munich were visited to learn more about the scientific research topics of German researchers and experimental methods of observation.
