“花儿”又称“少年”,是流传在宁夏、甘肃、青海三省(区)广大地区的一种民歌形式,深受人民喜爱。这些地区的群众,不但经常在田野里用高亢、清脆、嘹亮的歌喉漫唱“花儿”,而且在每年端阳节前后,夏收大忙之前,还有召开大大小小的“花儿”演唱会的习惯。这种民间“花儿”会,小的人数一般在四、五千左右,大的竟达数万之多。例如,甘肃莲花山、青海瞿昙寺“花儿”盛会,多达四、五万人以上。由于“花儿”流传的地区不同,因而语言风格、音乐曲调和演唱形式也逐渐形成了若干不同
“Flowers”, also known as “juveniles”, is a form of folk songs spread in vast areas of Ningxia, Gansu and Qinghai provinces (regions) and is deeply loved by the people. The masses in these areas not only frequently sang “flowers” in the fields with high-pitched, crisp and loud singing voices, but also held “Flower” concerts of large and small before or after the annual Harvest Festival, habit.
