西南各地對於鎮壓反革命,在過去一個時期,也曾產生過‘片面寬大’的偏向。對許多罪大惡極的反革命分子,沒有給予嚴厲的鎮壓,或鎮壓得不及時。這就助長了他們的兇燄,使得人民利益和國家財產受到嚴重的危害,引起人民羣眾的不滿。直到去年七月中旬中央人民政府政務院和最高人民法院頒佈關於鎮壓反革命的指示以後,各地方作了系統與嚴肅的檢討,擬出糾正這一偏向的計劃,並在工作中貫澈執行。半年以來,‘片面寬大’的偏向,已經有了基本上的糾正。各地先後逮捕了一批潛藏的與拒不登記的反革命分子,給罪大惡極、怙惡不悛的反革命分子,以應得的懲處——判處死刑、長期徒刑。凡是採取了這一正確措施的地方,反革命分子的囂張氣燄,就受到了嚴重的打擊,並促使其內部分化瓦解。川東槍斃匪首董其魯以後,一天之內就有匪眾三百餘人向人民政府登記自新。重慶
