The last 20 years was an era where art galleries became the showcase of architecture. Institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate Modern in London, and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao are as admirable as the boldness of their architectural collections in art in their buildings. The new wing of the Art Institute of Chicago The Hyundai Wing, a recent member of this majestic ranks, has had an impact on the worldwide recession and probably the last moment before an era. Designed by Renzo Piano, the new wing immediately appears both spectacular and restraining, offsetting the over-concealment of the architectural trend of the art while also trying to fit into the city’s remarkable architectural history.
