据《新华文摘》1999年第2期“科技点滴”报道,日本宇宙开发事业团最近决定研制以液化天然气为燃料的火箭。这是日本为降低火箭生产成本而采取的措施之一。日本近年研制成功的氢大型火箭使用的燃料是价格昂贵的液氢和液氧,而液化天然气的价格仅为液氢的1%。日研究人员还指出,液化天然气的密度大,因此可以缩小火箭槽和整个火箭的体积。
