The exoerythrocytic forms(EEF)of Plasmodium y.yoelli BY265 in the liver of rats and mice are morphologically similar, however, the size of the matured EEF in rats is far much larger thanthat in mice.In the sections of the liver of both animals, which weremade 48-65 hours after the inoculation of sporozoites, two types ofdegenerated EEF,one type with and the other without white cellinfiltration, can be found.Degeneration occurs in 6.6% of EEF inrats and 5.8% in mice.Once the normally developed parasites becomematured and ruptured, large amount of white cells are attracted andaccumulated to form local foci of infiltration.
