银屑病并发银屑病性关节炎于19世纪由法国人首先报道。Wright等1976年给本病下的定义是:“银屑病并发炎症性关节炎且类风湿因子通常为阴性。”“通常”一词的含义也包括具典型的临床和放射学改变的银屑病性关节炎,但类风湿因子阳性。这些人可能确实有银屑病性关节炎而并非类风湿关节炎同时发生银屑病。
