新媒体艺术是数字技术高速发展和现代媒介介入并表征的产物。在当下这个以速度为追求,并且在不断膨胀数字世界里,哲学似乎因为跟不上科学的脚步而失语。面对这个世界,人们需要有一种方式来缓解自己身处其中的焦虑,新媒体艺术由此成为一种必然。艺术来源于人的意识,是人自发的认识行为与表现行为。当下大量存在的、且以新媒体艺术自称的形态各异的文本与行为,在传播、技术、情感与传统四个维度中表达出互为边际、相互悖反的特征,具体表现为:传播边际,固化形式与游离内容的一体;技术边际,真实异化与知觉倒置的共存;情感边际,时间丧失与影像孤独的合一;传统边际,城市自由的伸张与乡村传统的背离。
