Objective To study the relationship between diabetic patients with coronary artery disease and cytokines. Methods 98 patients with diabetes mellitus and angina pectoris were divided into three groups by coronary angiography. The levels of TNF-α and IL-1β were measured simultaneously. Results (1) The levels of TNF-α and IL-1β were significantly increased in single and coronary normal group, multi-vessel and single vessel lesion group, P <0.001, with statistical significance; (2) Compared with the single-vessel lesion group, the levels of blood lipid and HbA1c in the normal group, multi-vessel and single-vessel lesion group were significantly increased (P <0.001,0.05, respectively). Conclusions The degree of diabetes with coronary artery disease is positively correlated with TNF-α and IL-1β, indicating that cytokines are involved in the pathogenesis of diabetic coronary artery disease.
