Objective To investigate the relationship between vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and microvessel density (MVD) and pathological grade of glioma and to analyze the correlation between VEGF and MVD. Methods Immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expression of VEGF and MVD in 5 normal brain tissues and 43 glioma tissues. Results VEGF was not expressed in normal brain tissue. The positive rate of VEGF was 65.1% in 43 human gliomas, and the expression of VEGF was positively correlated with MVD. Conclusion VEGF can promote glioma progression by promoting the formation of glioma blood vessels and increasing the microvessel density of tumor tissue.
