在我国的铁路史上,“八五”期间对给水的投资最大,水源建设的规模也最大,给水面貌的改变最突出,被广大铁路给水职工誉为“给水工作的春天”。其中震动最大的工作主要有两项。其一是在部长的指示下,开展了全路瞩目的“茶杯子工程”。对全路的286个客车上水站的给水设备进行了彻底的更新改造,累计投资3.5亿元以上,对客车上水站的改造站数达80%,满足了全路各上水站在客车最大交会时,列列辆辆同时上满水的需要,为全路闯过了客车上水关,为路风路誉建设和《铁路法》的实施做出了突出的贡献。
