Mice were fed basal and basal diets with vitamin E 50 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg diets, respectively, for 4 weeks. Then, the entire body was irradiated with 400 rad X-rays and sacrificed on the 6th and 14th days after irradiation respectively. Spleen and thymus cells were counted and spleen lymphocyte transformation reaction was measured. The results showed that the number of spleen and thymus cells in the basal diet group was significantly lower than that in the vitamin E group (P<0.01); the conversion of spleen T and B lymphocytes in the vitamin E group was significantly higher than that in the basal diet group (P<0.01). The conversion of T lymphocytes in the high-dose vitamin E group was also significantly higher than that in the low-dose group (P<0.01).
