The effects of electron beam irradiation on the mortality, complete lethal time, pupation rate, emergence rate and reproductive capacity of end-stage larvae were studied by using different doses of electron beam irradiation. The results showed that with the increase of irradiation dose, the mortality rate of the last instar larvae gradually increased, but not immediately died, but increased with the continued feeding time. The complete lethal time of larvae was shortened with the increase of irradiation dose. The tobacco larvae irradiated by more than 480Gy could not emerge as adults, and the adult adults of tobacco larvae which irradiated by more than 300Gy dose could not produce the next generation of adults. Taking into account other factors, the dose of 300 Gy can be used as an effective radiation dose to prevent the propagation of tobacco larvae.
