Cables buried or laid on the seafloor can be damaged by fishing, anchors, galvanic corrosion, earthquakes and icebergs. This article is intended to provide an introduction to several possibilities of damage to the subsea cable by marine fisheries. As early as 1850, Britain laid the first armored cable in the world in the Channel of Britain and France.
