党的十二大期间,我们访问了十二大代表、来自贵州的侗族采煤工人王贵富同志。我们请他谈一下自己的事迹,他只是笑一笑:“有啥好谈的?我只是做了一点一个工人应该做的事情。”如果我们不是早已经从各方面了解他的情况,真会认为他只不过是一个普普通通的工人。他身材不高,不是那种威风凛凛的大壮汉;他容貌一般,不是相貌堂堂、仪表非凡;他言谈朴实,讲的不是那种“闪光的豪言壮语”。他如果和几百个甚至几十个人站在一起,人们不会首先发现他,他的外貌和言谈绝无什么出众之处。

We asked him to talk about his own deeds, he just laughed: “What good talk? He is not tall and not the mighty majestic man; he looks ordinary, not looks dignified, extraordinary instrument; his simple talk, not the kind of “glittering rhetoric.” If he stands with hundreds or even dozens of people, people will not find him first, and there will be nothing special about his appearance and conversation.
