四十二年前的1949年春夏之交,在中国人民解放战争即将在全国取得胜利的形势下,中共河南省委、河南省人民政府根据当时革命发展的需要,决定重建河南大学,任命省主席吴芝圃兼任校长、张柏园为副校长兼党委书记(当时党组织尚未公开),嵇文甫为副校长。重建的河南大学,性质是革命大学,她主要招收青年知识分子,进行短斯的思想政治教育后,充实革命队伍。
