The paper presents the use of capacitive tomography to visualize the distribution pattern of material in the block area inside the blast furnace. The feasibility of this technique is discussed. Some previous research results are reported, including the experiment to verify the difference of the dielectric properties between ore and coke, The design of the capacitance sensor measurement circuit for the blast furnace imaging system and the imaging experiments for the simple distribution of ores and coke in cold conditions The acquisition of these results laid the groundwork for further in-depth studies of blast furnace imaging
