William Faulkner’s rhymed long poem “Jade Goddess” is a masterpiece of his early romantic poetry career, following the romantic rhetoric of man’s dream in nature. The experience of idol narrators testifies to the self-remembrance of nature in the old South, while narrative self reveals the natural disenchantment of the real South, which gives rise to the double narration of the past and the present. The idolizing desire and narrative dilemma of the idol in the duality of narration highlight the nostalgia of southerners. The nostalgic annexation and introspection of the dual mode expresses the memory tactics of Southern intellectuals in the construction of their discourse system. Eco-writing thus integrates the expression of political discourse, thus demonstrating the ecological discourse position of southern intellectuals.
