《广州化工》创刊于1973年初,至今已整整二十周年。二十年来,在有关上级的领导下,在主办单位和各有关单位、全体编委、编辑人员的支持和共同努力下,《广州化工》从每年只出版2、3期的不定期刊物发展成定期的季刊,从内部交换发展到国内外公开发行,从内容比较简单发展为内容丰富,越办越好,为促进化学工业和国民经济的发展发挥了良好作用,取得显著的社会效益,1986年获广东省及广州市科技情报成果奖,1991年荣获广东省首届优秀期刊称号,1992年及更被国家科委、中共中央宣传部、国家新闻出版署评为全国首届优秀科技期刊,是广东省仅有的两个获奖科技期刊之一。此外,还荣获广东省期刊1992年优秀文章奖3篇及优秀封面设计奖、优秀版式设计奖。
