1999年是不平凡的一年。这一年,我们豪情满怀地迎来了建国五十周年,又欢欣鼓舞地迎接了澳门回归祖国。在省委、省政府的正确领导下,全省人民克服了自然灾害严重、通货紧缩趋势明显、社会矛盾复杂等困难,集中精力抓经济建设,使我省国民经济保持了良好的发展势头。全省国内生产总值增长8.5%,基本实现年初确定目标。经济素质有所提高,经济效益逐步回升。这些成绩是在严峻的内外形势下取得的,是全省人民坚定信心、战胜困难、真抓实干、加快发展的结果。
1999 is an extraordinary year. This year, we proudly welcomed the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of our nation and welcomed the return of Macao to the motherland with great joy. Under the correct leadership of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, the people of the province overcame the difficulties of serious natural disasters, obvious deflationary trends and complicated social conflicts, and concentrated their efforts on economic construction so that the national economy of our province maintained a good momentum of development. The province’s gross domestic product increased by 8.5%, basically achieving the goal set at the beginning of the year. Economic quality has improved, economic efficiency gradually picked up. These achievements were made under the grim situation both inside and outside of the country and the result of the people of the entire province who have been steadfast in their confidence, overcome difficulties, and are hard-working and accelerating their development.
